Slavery took place throughout America in the northern and southern states. Slaver y was also frequently found in many other places all around the world Slavery has caused wars, and torn families apart. Slavery also contradicts the constitution. Slavery around the 1800’s took place in America, specifically the southern regions, where slavery was more popular. Slavery is the act of having someone work for you, but not paying them, and also giving unfair and treacherous labor. These people are forced against their will, which makes slavery very unconstitutional. Many men and women were enslaved and sent to work on fields and do many other jobs. Slavery was happening around the world, and still is, but in America people would buy these slaves, and send them to work. Slaves were owned by people living in the slave states, along with some of our founding fathers owning slaves, for example Thomas Jefferson. In America there were Free states and slave states, meaning certain states were pro slavery and some of the states did not allow slavery. The northern states were mainly Free states and the southern states, mainly slave states. The Free State, and slave state idea caused many conflicts, including if or if not certain states should allow slavery, and if slaves count as representation.
