Slavery contradicts the Constitution, because to perform a more perfect union, promote general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty were all contradicted. A more perfect union was not formed when slavery was occurring. Because of slavery, the south and north in the United States split up for a while. The southern states wanted to expand slavery and govern themselves to they split away from the north. The promotion of general welfare was contradicted, because some slaves could have been born in the united states, and could have been citizens but could be a different race. Slaves may have been citizens, but because they were black, or a different race, they were brought into slavery . Therefore the promotion of general welfare and the well-being of some slaves was not considered. They were often treated very violently, and the well being of these people was not considered through slavery. The blessing of liberty was not secured, because the freedom of slaves was not secured. For starters slaves ha practically no freedom what so ever. They were treated as property and had to follow their masters every command .Slavery contradicts ideal outlined in the Constitution in many ways.
